Toddler Program – 18 mo. to 30 mo.

Early childhood education is the most formative stage of learning, as a child’s physical, mental, and emotional development begins. At ACEC, we recognize these important facts, and this is the age group where we begin to deliver a solid foundational learning experience for young children as they commence their educational journey.

Our program is not daycare; it is a decisive entry point into our highly caring, nurturing, and successful educational environment for the whole person. Each day, we guide our toddlers in the growth of independence, movement skills and language abilities during a critical developmental period for these capacities.

Paving the road – Beginning of Academic!

The Toddler Program provides a nurturing educational experience, fostering independence, language development and motor movement. Current research indicates that the first three years of a child’s life are the most formative. During this period, children absorb innumerable impressions from their environment as their physical, mental and emotional development occurs. Our exceptional facilities and outstanding staff provide a program that meets your child’s individual needs during this most important period of development. Developmentally appropriate activities foster the growth of self-help skills, language development, social awareness, and positive, non-aggressive problem-solving in each child.

Language Development

Research tells us that children from birth to age 3 are in a critical period for language development. By providing an environment rich in oral language, each child has the opportunity to develop their receptive and expressive language skills. Formal language lessons are given each day using vocabulary cards, classified objects, books, poems, songs, and finger-play activities. Informal language lessons are an integral part of our program throughout the day’s lessons and activities. Children learn pronunciation, inflection, grammar, and vocabulary by interacting with the people around them. The children delight in the acquisition of language and thrive in this vocabulary-rich environment.

ACEC creates an environment where children can learn and express themselves in their mother tongue or acquire Chinese. Exposing children to a second language while young allows them to optimize their learning potential, helping to shape the brain at its most flexible stage.
